Hi, and welcome! I'm Ysa (she/hers), a Filipina photographer and writer based in Texas.
For me, art is a critical mode of access to alternity and the sublime. My practice involves paying close attention to the threatened, yet enduring greenery of communities, so as to make sure my works maintain a sharp focus on the stakes of beauty, joy, and pleasure.

Across mediums, my works are imbued with a sense of softness and vitality.
I take great care to display a carefully-wrought balance of dreamy and natural in my photos through lush color grading and a sensitivity to the subjective essence of my figures.
My prose works have a lyrical quality, weaving together personal narrative with incisive analysis. As a budding creative non-fiction writer and cultural critic, my pieces have been described as elegant, mature, and sophisticated.
My academic background is in community health and literary studies, which inform my multidisciplinary approach.
Outside of my 8 to 5 as a content strategist/developer for scientific research institutes, I'm (re-)watching Korean variety show episodes, reading poetry collections (or if not, looking for more finds at indie or secondhand bookstores), or exchanging Google Calendar invitations with friends to plan hangouts.
